Key Takeaways (TL;DR): An experimental Telegram build for macOS now includes a built-in AI assistant. It can search through chats, draft replies, and compile tables from messages. Currently works only in English and has some limitations. A free auto-renewing subscription is available at /sub/happ/for-russia, and a private anti-DPI multi-key with white-list bypass is available via the Telegram bot @yavpn_robot.
Telegram developers continue to experiment with artificial intelligence. This time they released a test build of the messenger for macOS with a built-in AI assistant. We tested what it can do and what still needs improvement.
How it works under the hood
The assistant is integrated directly into the Telegram interface β no need to open a separate bot or web page. It analyzes chat content: message text, attached files, links, and even images (if they have captions). Processing happens on Telegram's servers, so your Mac isn't overloaded.
Users can ask the assistant questions in natural language, for example: "Find the presentation file sent to me last month" or "Compile a table of all programming article links in this chat." The assistant scans the history and delivers results.
What works well
- Message search. The assistant easily finds specific phrases even if you don't remember exact words. Just describe the topic.
- Reply drafts. Select a message and ask for a reply β the assistant offers several options in formal or friendly tone.
- Table compilation. From structured data (lists, addresses, dates), the assistant can create a neat table right in the chat.
What doesn't work yet
- Russian language. The assistant only understands English. Russian messages are ignored or processed with errors.
- Long conversations. If a chat contains more than 500 messages, the assistant loses context and may produce irrelevant results.
- Images without captions. The assistant cannot recognize pictures yet β only text and file metadata.
What this means for users
For now, the feature is only available on macOS in an experimental build. No plans for Android or iOS have been announced. If you actively use Telegram for work and have many English conversations, the assistant can save you a lot of time. Otherwise, it's better to wait for a stable release.
By the way, if your ISP throttles Telegram or blocks traffic, a private multi-key with white-list bypass can help β it's available via the bot @yavpn_robot starting from 5 rubles per day.
